FLOORLINE CREATIONS

DESIGN STUDIOS

Here at FLOORLINE CREATIONS we offer a unique service to create patterns, designs out of flooring materials for flooring projects, wall designs, childrens play centres & schools, outdoor areas.

We cut bespoke designs out of different material types or you can choose from a selection of shapes and designs

  1. Choose from shapes to designs or create your own and what materials needed for specific areas

  2. When a rough idea is created we send a flooring technician out to the job to asses all aspects and finalise exactly the designs and the job

  3. Place the order when satisfied

  4. We then send out the best fitters for the job

Digital printing on flooring is a modern manufacturing technique that uses inkjet technology to apply high-resolution, custom designs directly onto various flooring materials, offering immense design flexibility and customisation not possible with traditional methods.

How It Works

Instead of using fixed, engraved rollers or screens, digital printing involves a non-contact, inkjet process where tiny droplets of ink are sprayed onto the flooring substrate.

  1. Preparation: The base material (e.g., MDF, HDF, vinyl substrate) is prepared, which may involve sealing or adhesion enhancement.

  2. Printing: A digital file is used by industrial inkjet printers to apply the design in CMYK and sometimes white (CMYKW) inks with extreme precision.

  3. Curing/Finishing: The printed surface is typically cured with UV light or heat, and a durable wear layer and/or textured finish is applied to ensure it meets international standards for abrasion resistance (e.g., AC4 or AC5 for laminate) and longevity. Digital embossing techniques can also add realistic textures that align with the visual design (Embossed In Register, EIR).

Compatible Materials

A wide range of flooring materials can be digitally printed, including:

  • Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) and Vinyl Sheeting: This is a common application, allowing for realistic wood, stone, or abstract patterns to be printed with high clarity.

  • Laminate Flooring (HDF/MDF boards): The design is either printed onto a décor paper first and then laminated to the board, or printed directly onto the board itself.

  • Ceramic and Porcelain Tiles: This market has largely adopted digital printing to create complex patterns and replicate natural stone with high definition.

  • Engineered Hardwood: The technology can print directly onto wood planks or veneers.

  • Specialty/Temporary Graphics: Materials like self-adhesive vinyl rolls for temporary floor graphics in retail or event spaces can also be digitally printed.

Key Benefits

  • Customisation and Flexibility: Manufacturers can produce bespoke designs, logos, or unique patterns in small batches, offering endless design possibilities.

  • High Quality and Realism: The technology allows for ultra-high resolution and detailed reproduction of natural materials like wood grain or stone textures, enhancing aesthetic appeal.

  • Efficiency: Minimal set-up times and less material waste compared to traditional analog printing methods (e.g., rotogravure, screen printing) make it a more sustainable and often more cost-effective solution for short production runs.

  • Faster Time to Market: New designs can be brought to market much faster because there is no need to create physical printing plates or cylinders.
